Synopsis

At the end of the Second World War, a network for the exfiltration of Nazis was set up in Italy, with the Vatican issuing Red Cross passports.

This was made possible by the German section of the Pontifical Commission for Assistance to War Refugees, which was entrusted to Bishop Alois Hudal, the most pro-Nazi prelate in the Catholic hierarchy.

Hudal had passports issued to war criminals, allowing them to be exfiltrated via the port of Genoa.
