Synopsis
In 1968, a platform rises off the coast of Italy, presenting itself as the Esperanto Republic of the Island of Roses. Conceived by libertarian engineer Giorgio Rosa, this micro-nation defies the Italian authorities.
But the experiment is short-lived. Deemed subversive, the island is swiftly dismantled.
Yet its story remains one of modern history's most fascinating political utopias.
