Synopsis

Karen Blixen returns home discouraged from Kenya.

Physically ill, she has lost her soulmate and lover, and her farm in Africa has been bankrupt. Karen moves into her childhood home Rungstedlund, in Denmark. Destitute and uneducated, she lives at the mercy of her family.

She begins exploring the idea of achieving her ambitious dreams of becoming a writer.
