Synopsis

A small Southeast Asian country with a population of 15 million, Cambodia has left behind invaluable evidence of its medieval past.

The temples of Angkor, survivors of a tumultuous history, were part of a vast network of cities, villages, sanctuaries, and religious universities that were home to nearly a million people.

They stand as a testament to a powerful, prosperous Khmer empire steeped in intense spirituality, which inspired its kings and people to erect these exceptional monuments.
