Welcome into my world
An episode from the series HOMES OF BRAZIL
At the beginning of the 18th century, gold was discovered in the region of Minas and adventurers of all stripes flocked to the city of Ouro Preto which quickly counted more inhabitants that Rio de Janeiro or New York.
During one century, tons of gold were extracted from the region and transported to the coast on the legendary "gold route", along which were build gigantic and spectacular fazendas, Brazilian ranches.
Most of these fazendas have been meticulously restored. This is why Ouro Preto was designated a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO.
