Synopsis

Born in 1955 to uneducated parents in the remote mountains of northeast Nepal, Dr. Sanduk Ruit is a world-renowned eye surgeon whose use of inexpensive intraocular lenses has enabled thousands of poor patients in Nepal to regain their sight.

A masterful practitioner, he can perform dozens of flawless cataract operations at eye camps over a 12-hour day.

Working tirelessly at the operating table he is fond of saying: “the surgical chair is the most comfortable place on Earth that I have".
