Synopsis

Kikuo Morimoto is a silk textile expert from Kyoto, Japan. Every autumn, he returns to his hometown to hold a fair, sparing no effort to promote Cambodia’s silk culture.

It all started in 1995 while on a trip to study Southeast Asian traditional dyeing and weaving.

Morimoto discovered that Cambodia’s traditional silk, Ikat, was disappearing after decades of civil war. Driven by his desire to revive this industry, Morimoto went on to set up the Institute for Khmer Traditional Textiles.
