Synopsis
In 1933, the remains of an ancient royal capital were fortuitously discovered in Syria by a group of Bedouins.
The site quickly revealed its identity thanks to some carved inscriptions on a statue: here was the city of Mari, as mentioned on the famous list of the Sumer kingdom, and, according to the bible, the headquarters of the 10th dynasty after the Flood.
