Synopsis
Dhaka.
Known as the rickshaw capital of the world, these 3 wheels cycles are everywhere in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. Half a million rickshaws ply the roads daily and are the primary mode of transport. They are usually beautifully decorated pieces of artwork, low-cost and non-polluting cycle but nevertheless, the source of enormous traffic congestion and, consequently, have been banned on several city streets. At 80 years old, Amir, is still fighting to break the chain of poverty.

“Beca” is the Malay word for trishaw (a tricycle with a side seat for two). It is extremely popular with tourists as reminiscent of the days gone by and a novel way to explore Malacca, one of Malaysia’s most attractive cities. The trishaws here are works of art adorned with bells and baubles, chrome-framed pictures of footballers or film stars. Loud-mouthed 56-year-old rider Ah Siang has been on the job for half his life. He runs a special tour for his guests.
