Synopsis

By the late 1920s, the movement of people to the East Coast area in Singapore was accelerating and with it, a new suburban lifestyle developed, with the Straits Eclectic houses built between the two world wars in Mountbatten Road for the professional middle class.

Why did they build this particular type of house? What global movements influenced architecture?
