Synopsis
Having lived his whole life in Paris, George Seurat managed in his short existence to surpass the "romantic" aspect of impressionism in order to elaborate a pictorial method based on precise scientific laws and revolutionize the concept of figurative art.
His intent is to find what links art and science. An enthusiast of pointillism, he claims this technique makes the painting more "solid" and allows the colours and light to stand out.
This is how he will paint his most famous canvasses, such as "Une baignade à Asnières" or "Un dimanche après-midi à l’île de la Grande Jatte".
