			Synopsis
Perched at 3,250 meters of altitude in the south of the Peruvian Andes, Cuzco is the first tourist destination of Peru. Known to the Incas as the "Sacred City", it was the capital of one of the main pre-Columbian empires. Its attraction lies in its architectural variety which blends the Inca era with the Spanish colonial period.
Still intrigued by the myth of the Eldorado, it is not gold which fascinates the travellers coming to Peru, but its vestiges like the Machu Picchu, the Lake Titicaca, the highest in the world, the Altiplano populated with llamas and the majestic Andes Cordillera.
