Synopsis

The Grand Duchess Charlotte was an icon to the people of Luxembourg, the mother of the country, a hero during WWII, and the symbol of the independence of the Grand Duchy. All at once, mother, wife, and head of state, she has been one of the greatest European monarchs of the 20th century.

She was an intimate friend of American President Franklin Roosevelt and was praised by John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Over a 45-year reign, the Grand Duchess Charlotte turned her tiny territory into a financial center where banks took over the steel industry.
