LANGUEDOC, BEATEN BY THE WAVES
A round-the-world tour of countries facing climate change
An episode from the series EARTH ON EDGE
From the Pont du Gard to the Cap d’Agde, the Languedoc region, France, is a mix of heath and sand beaches under a particularly mild and sunny climate.
But the area is also prey to extreme weather phenomena causing devastating floods almost every year. The coastline, largely urbanized in the 60's, is now under attack from the sea.
The challenge is huge for the region which is facing the consequences of climate change, including a rising sea level.
