Synopsis

In 1987, a young woman's mutilated body is found in a dump. Next to the body is a blood-stained knife and a checkbook with the victim's name, Nelly Haderer.

The investigation focuses on her companion, Michel Miclos, when the detectives learn that the couple had a fight the night before the tragedy. But Miclos has an alibi. A witness says he saw a car that night near the place where Nelly was murdered. It belongs to Jacques Maire, a local hoodlum. When questioned, he says that he had been bar crawling and there are no evidence against him.

In 1990, an anonymous letter is sent to the police accusing Jacques Maire, not only of this crime but also of that of Odile Busset, a woman murdered in 1983.
