Synopsis

Born without a lineage or fortune, Jules Mazarin begins his career in the Pope's service in 17th century Rome.

Ambitious and intelligent, he knows how to make himself indispensable. Very quickly, his diplomatic skills and ability to take advantage of circumstances led him to the court of France. Louis XIII and Richelieu, who were dying, entrusted him with completing their political work.

He consolidates his power alongside Anne of Austria, the regent, and mother of the young Louis XIV. As the head of the state, he has to deal with a civil war dividing the kingdom. He finds himself at the helm of the world's greatest power when victorious.
