Synopsis
In the last century, a monarch of dazzling beauty lived in India. Maharani Gayatri Devi, Princess of Jaipur, is a true legend in her country, and her life is worthy of a tale from "A Thousand and One Nights".
After her marriage with Sawai Man Singh II in 1940, Gayatri Devi started taking up the cause of women and the disenfranchised. She became a symbol of a changing India, was elected to the Parliament, and pushed for the emancipation of Hindu women before being thrown in prison by her rival, Minister Indira Gandhi, and was finally rehabilitated.
Gayatri Devi died in 2009 at the age of 90.
