Synopsis

Louis-Philippe and Marie-Amélie were the last king and queen of France from 1830 to 1848. In a country rapidly changing, the couple adopted a lifestyle voluntarily different from that of the rulers who preceded them.

Before coming to the throne, Louis-Philippe had a thousand lives. Time, more than love, united him to the woman who became his wife. Together, they experienced the worst (repeated exiles, flight and a dozen assassination attempts) and the best too, surrounded by their eight children, most often in private residences, living like bourgeois at odds with the royal etiquette.
