Synopsis

Often portrayed as a monster of perversion, Lucrezia Borgia suffers from a devastating reputation.

Until the election of her father as Pope Alexander VI, the young girl spent a careless childhood in the palaces of Rome. Because of numerous political twists and turns, her father married her, often against her will, to the most powerful princes of her time.

Slandered during her lifetime, her story became even more dreadful in the 19th century under the pen of the great romantic writers, all fascinated by this heroine, starting with their leader, Victor Hugo, who in 1832 wrote a melodrama which was a triumph.
