Synopsis

History has it that the Queen of Egypt, the lover of Caesar and Mark Antony, committed suicide on August 12, in 30 BC, by having a snake bite her breast. This was the end of a monarch who had tried to save her heritage, Egypt, while the Roman domination progressed around the Mediterranean.

But the sources are fuzzy and so questions abound. Did Cleopatra really kill herself? Did her victor, Octavian, try everything to stop her? Did he precipitate her end? Was it better for him to drag her behind his chariot during his triumph in Rome or to eliminate her?
