Synopsis

On July 13, 1793, Marie-Anne-Charlotte de Corday d'Armont, known as Charlotte Corday, murdered Jean-Paul Marat, a member of the new parliament and one of the main actors of the French Revolution, in his home. The image of bloodied Marat in his bathtub was immortalized by the painter David.

But what do we really know about Charlotte Corday? She was the daughter of a Norman gentleman, descendant of Corneille, and a scholar working as a secretary in an abbey. She was immediately interested in the new ideas promoted by the Revolution. But why did she kill Marat? What were the reasons that led her to take the life of this committed revolutionary?
