Embedded into elite units
An episode from the series THE INSIDER
For 200 years, the Singapore police force has been constantly evolving to adapt to the incredible growth of the island. In 1993, faced with an upsurge in violent crimes, Singapore decided to set up an elite unit, the STAR (Special Tactics And Rescue), an exceptional tactical intervention group whose missions include the release of hostages, the arrest of dangerous criminals, maritime assaults and the fight against terrorism.
Today, 12,000 men and women are responsible for maintaining law and order.
