MEXICO - THE LIGHT-FOOTED TRAIN
Exploring with wide open eyes
An episode from the series LANDS OF THE EARTH
In northern Mexico, El Chepe is one of the most spectacular railways in the world. A whiff of adventure animates its 653 km long journey linking the Pacific to the Chihuahua desert, while climbing up to 2,400 meters above sea level.
At the leisurely pace of the train sumptuous landscapes pass by: fertile plains, imposing mountains, forests, torrents, waterfalls, dizzying precipices, arid zones and a network of gorges and ridges 4 times larger than the Grand Canyon. Depending on the altitude, climate goes from mountainlike to tropical.
