Synopsis
Located at the world's edge, New Zealand is probably the last land men colonized.
The South Island, known to the Māori for nearly 1,000 years as Te Waipounamu, "the Land of Water with Green Stones", is home to jade deposits, a gem that has shaped Māori culture.
Wilder than its northern sister, the island is home to New Zealand's most beautiful landscapes, including an extensive mountain range, Mount Cook, ice fields, and majestic fjords.
