Synopsis

Off the coast of Senegal, in the Atlantic Ocean, the archipelago of Cape Verde is home to 10 islands noticeable for their barrenness, active volcanoes, and lush black sand beaches.

Over the centuries, this inhospitable nature has seen the development of a unique blend of cultures, a people with multiple identities: African, South American, and European, the legacy of former slaves and Portuguese settlers.

Like the features of the archipelago, the locals’ identity is defined by multiple touches of color.
