Synopsis

Marie-Antoinette ascended the throne of France alongside Louis XVI when she was only 18 years old. During her reign, she became one of the most hated personalities in the country and was executed at the age of only 38, after a mock trial.

Marie-Antoinette’s fall was fatal to the circle of intimates she had while in Versailles: the Princess of Lamballe, the Duchess of Polignac, Count Axel de Fersen, the fashion merchant Rose Bertin or her portraitist, Elisabeth Vigée-Lebrun.
