Synopsis

Born into slavery in the 18th century in the French colony of Saint-Domingue, now Haiti, Toussaint Louverture escaped from servitude to become a brilliant general and politician.

From his Caribbean Island, he set out to free the slaves of Saint-Domingue. But standing in his way was none other than Napoleon.
