Synopsis

In order to win the war at all costs, France's leaders allowed military leaders to establish a reign of terror in Algeria.

But although the politicians decided to gradually relinquish their power to the army, the military eventually turned against their "masters" with a putsch that led to the fall of the government and the return to power of General De Gaulle.
