Synopsis

In the early 1970s, the French state was faced with the reality that the law banning abortion was unenforced and unenforceable.

Increasingly vocal groups of activists and associations met fierce resistance from a ruling class for whom the subject remained taboo.

The law passed by Simone Veil, the minister who had it adopted, marked a major break in the history of women's rights thanks to their unprecedented mobilization.
