Synopsis
From November 1942, following the Anglo-American landing in North Africa, the French army shattered after the debacle of 1940, was gradually reconstituted on the African continent.
For their part, the Free French Forces, whose ranks included a high percentage of colonial nationals, mainly from Black Africa, merged with the African Army.
As a result, more than half of the soldiers who landed in Provence on August 15, 1944, came from Black and North Africa and took part in the French victory over Nazism.
