Synopsis

250 km south of Rio de Janeiro, lies Paraty, one of the most charming and authentic villages in Brazil. Paraty was a historically important city during the Portuguese empire. Attesting to this is a wonderfully preserved period of architecture built in the 17th century, which could be best described as Portuguese baroque colonial.

Isolated from the rest of the country by forests and mountains, Paraty owes its preservation to its difficult access, protecting it from real estate speculators.

UNESCO recognized Paraty’s architecture as being one of the most harmonious in the world.
