Synopsis

Between 10,000 and 15,000 years ago many animals that belonged to what is sometimes called "mega-fauna", disappeared. This group consisted of herbivores that had taken a different option from horses or gazelles. Instead of evolving to a lighter, faster animal to escape predators, they decided to grow and to develop thick skins and huge, massive frames.

Today, there are a still some animals that, in a way, are relics of this trend. Giants for whom it is increasingly difficult to find a place in a territory where man is omnipresent, and where their strategies may consequently seem irrelevant.
