Synopsis

According to legend, sailors were fishing in the sea of Phocidia when a magnificent silver dolphin attracted them to the Crissa harbor. Mesmerized, the sailors then discovered a sanctuary perched on a cliff. It belonged to the god Apollo who was none other than the dolphin which led them there. The god asked them to become the landmark’s guardians. Thus Delphi was born.

If today visitors are still enthralled by the beauty of the site, it probably faintly compares to the feelings of Antique Greece pilgrims coming to consult the oracles or the athletes travelling here to participate in the Olympic Games ancestors.
