Synopsis

A sturdy, fireproof Kurazukuri merchant house in Japan’s Kawagoe city, is home to a family that lives on a craft inherited through generations. Unlike the exquisite wooden houses of their countrymen, it seems overly massive and at odds with Japanese aesthetics.

Yet, this hulk of a house has securely sheltered the household from the upheavals of the times. The residents feel deep gratitude for this legacy from their forefathers, trustworthy protectors in the midst of frequent natural disasters.
