Synopsis

Elizabeth I of England was a charismatic queen with a formidable intelligence. A doggedly bachelor who claimed to have remained a virgin all her life, she reigned alone over Great Britain for more than 44 years in the middle of the 16th century.

Daughter of the feared King Henry VIII and the infamous Anne Boleyn, Elizabeth proclaimed herself the wife of her Protestant kingdom, made many friends in France and, to defend her throne, fought to the death with the legendary Marie Stuart, her Catholic cousin.
