Synopsis

In the south-east of the Arabian Peninsula, the Sultanate of Oman is an oasis. Caravans loaded with incense left from the south of the country, in the Dhofar region.

The Boswellia Sacra is a tree that produces a gum that pharaohs, kings and emperors got addicted to for thousand of years. Its production, an activity that is lost in time, made the country prosperous. The trade of this gum is attested well before the Christian era.

This is how the incense road, which has linked Dhofar to the rest of the world since ancient times, was born.
